No Direction Home

27 Nov

the sound of the record,

made him feel like someone else,

not found on a map.

weather equalizes,

an agile mind able to learn a song

after hearing it just a couple times.

you can listen to his songs,

and learn how to live

with a quality of will

that demands attention.

Fireworks

26 Nov

beaten to a pulp in jail

he had traumatic times to live in.

he’d do anything in the almighty world.

the first record was songs that he knew

but had not performed much in his

nomadic private life.

white people don’t have hard times.

rich people don’t have hard times.

these are songs to inspire,

bluegrass roots-jazz,

with poetic instinct.

Ahem, he said

during the cuban missile crisis

with the carter family song playing

you’re gonna miss me when i’m gone

and ginsberg weeping

when he heard hard rain.

a torch passed,

to the next generation,

from a beat bohemiam who believed

in subjective truth vs. objective reality

and that the student

should be better than the teacher.

Homeless

25 Nov

buildings create 50% of all greenhouse gas,

and use more energy than cars

let’s review some collective ability

and responsible design,

aesthetics with ethics?

we are an environmental nightmare

of individualized consumption

with an average of 2 hours per day

spent in a car.

let’s capture storm water

for our green roof

with larger social implications

and connect to something deeper

than the economy and government marketing trends.

Bobby Baby

24 Nov

nobody ever counted off for dylan

he just did what the fuck he wanted.

jim is racing sandy on saturday

and guy, is with sarafina’s mom.

i am in a constant state of becoming,

with the chimes of freedom flashing.

johnny cash sang me one of his songs,

and gave me his guitar.

its the tragedy of the human condition and i

voice what is happening all around us.

Globalization

24 Nov

the world economy

in recession,

markets vs. government

WWI sirens sound the alert

of german bombs,

and the future of the planet.

intellectual rivals in a fragile civilization:

1910 transformed, everywhere, everyday

20 million and 1 continent

laid to waste

while socialism promises a better world.

let’s make private property a crime!

take back Roosevelt’s voice of confidence

regulating capitalism.

i am rough boots to high society function

who attacks the growing consensus by writing.

married on 1 day’s notice

to less than 9 months later receive guests

barefoot in

the death of a lover

lost to typhoid.

you are the economic consequences of peace

a billion marks for a glass of beer and

radio as the internet of the 1920’s.

Another Repeat Poem?

23 Nov

i hate the ground she walks on

while he gives good advice about

“not thinking about it (whatEVER it is)

too much” like, in music, and,

alot of other things….

did your dad go to the liquor store

while everyone made loud,

meaningless small talk?

two voices were special to me.

the one that sent sunday dinner

to my email inbox on my birthday,

and yours.

give me the boy when he is seven

and i’ll give you the man.

invite the people i love

to tell me their stories,

painful unwanted facts.

emotionally important intrusion.

is there more you haven’t told me?

i want to enhance the other person,

expand the opportunities between us.

Blue Soulmating Storms

23 Nov

with the highest inflation rates in 5 years

there are propane explosions,

suicide bombers and diseases in our food.

i am lying here

in a loft bed

like a lifeboat adrift

on my tears.

my ailments keeping each other company.

please climb the mountain

and swim the river

to be with me here,

we will be the change,

and lazing like cats after

i will daze you

with more kisses.

no mistress kiss

but a deserted beach

with more of me.

The Mongollon Rim Escarpment

21 Nov

270 million years ago,

a subsiding basin gathered and preserved sand blown

by prevailing northerly winds.

a coastal position,

a distinctive layer of erosion-resistant rock

that was once covered, briefly, by the ocean.

switchbacks and zigzags up steep, rock walks.

somebody hurt me and left me down,

junglelike side canyon,

cold sinks

douglas firs and white firs coexist.

springs in protective rock walls,

you are not that somebody else.

i  never understood the meaning of nature

until i stood in the call of the canyon.

Words In The Wilderness

20 Nov

bolding exceptions

city hall

show you know your stuff.

3,000 foot elvation

along the Verde river:

to a height of 13,000 feet

on top of the San Francisco Peaks.

varied plant and animal life.

snakes, roadrunners, javelina

with deer, elk and black bear –

agave, cactus and pinon trees

touch roots and branches with

juniper and ponderosa pines.

a zoological wonderland,

and magnificent national forest,

with unusually rugged terrain.

deep gorges to high cliffs with magnificent,

panoramic views

and in remote spots, mysterious

ancient ruins.

a mining town of horse drawn wagon

a very special arts and crafts village,

the rim

and, the red rocks.
